Yesterday, at a Father's Day celebration held a day early at Kevin and Melody's home, I listened one on one to Debbie and what she had to say was remarkable.
Debbie will be 50 in August and recently graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of Redlands, after enrolling part-time a few years ago in her mid-40's, a time in life when most people have put their formal education behind them. Debbie, who continued to work full-time graduated a straight A student (with just one A-) and our family and friends are enormously proud of her.
But this is just one impressive measurement of Debbie's personal growth. As she spoke yesterday, she discussed trees and the changing of their colors and talked about nuances of people, subtleties few others notice and other observations she recently has made. Her depth of observations in areas most people ignore as they race through life is what got my intense attention for this is a sign of someone who is attentive and sincerely cares about all life has to offer. These are often attributes of serious writers.
One of her professors had suggested she pursue her writing talents, and I too encouraged her to do so. I have no idea how much more Debbie will grow on top of all that she has in recent years, but her growth is gaining momentum and I find it to be very compelling and look forward to seeing where it all leads for her, and from her, to the rest of mankind.

In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.
