Watching the current political races as little as possible, and still be media connected has begun to point out what should have been obvious observations all along.
Behind the arrogance of ego, behind the public relations structured appearances, behind the rehearsed speeches, behind the empty promises to the populace and behind the collection of campaign funds and the promises that will be kept to get that money lies some terribly insecure people.
Even the rich ones, the Ivy League educated ones, the ones given all the advantages society can offer are left to appeal to the populace, not just for power, but to have their love and acceptance. For like most entertainers, politicians too wilt in the dark and lonely corners of rejection, in some cases sinking into self-loathing.
So they claim to support political positions they don't believe in, contradict themselves from audience to audience and capitalize on the best public image public relations firms can create. And then because they are as human as the rest of us, reality strikes and the cracks show, sometimes to the point of ridicule, a grand failure or even on occasion a prosecution.
In the end, we are all contradictory, fallible and sometimes weak, but we are all striving for spiritual growth. The wisest of us do it through introspection and with love, compassion, forgiveness and in selfless acts that help make life better for others.

In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.
