Thank you Dad. I
am focused on enjoying the moment and being appreciative for being able to be

Hi Kyle,
It is wonderful to hear from you and your mother and I
hold you and Diane and Keoni in our hearts.
As you visit Africa, please practice
"mindfulness," a Zen Buddhist word for deep attentiveness to life's
vast number of little miracles.
You will witness a Savannah like no other you will ever
see again. And observe flowering plants, seeing each element of their form and
color, for these too you will never witness again, except in your mind's eye.
This is a fascinating journey you are on, with the power
to uplift your spirit and to teach you valuable lessons.
Love,
Dad

Dear Family,
Keoni, Diane and I jumped the lake and arrived in London
yesterday afternoon. As usual, we stayed
in Picadilli Circus. For dinner we
figured sticking to one of England's former colonies (no, not McDonald's) and
went to an Indian restaurant that was opened in 1926. Amazingly, Diane and Keoni (who dodge
anything spicy like the plague) really enjoyed the food as did I.
We did a nice walk around the city's main sites after
dinner as you'll see in the attached photo.
In the morning, we decided to trek to one of Laura's
favorite places, Borough Market (picture many stands under a large roof) where
Keoni ordered a box of hot bacon and Diane and I had fresh fruit and vegies
(even found a stand that juices). Sadly,
Diane found the gooseberries that I chose to be a tad more sour than her
liking. As neither of us had ever eaten
these interesting treats, I didn't realize her expectations and of course fell
short much like a high jumper attempting to leap over an invisible bar. No gold medal for me although our little one
was amused by our (by our, I mean her) usual antics.
As Keoni loves nothing more than bicycle tours, we
repeated one from two years ago (we did their other one last year). The only issue was that there are many road
closures in preparation for the coming Olympics. We found ourselves in traffic far more often
than in the past but we made do.
As it is London, the sun was bright and I was slathering
on sun screen only to find it running down my face and neck a couple hours
later when the clouds showed up and dumped on us. That and the chilly wind until out of
nowhere, the sun reappeared. Rinse, dry,
repeat...
Now that our 1 day in London is complete, we find
ourselves back at Heathrow awaiting our flight to Kenya. Much fun ahead and I will do my best to send
updates from the bush.
Pip, pip, cheerio,
Kyle
