In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

"Hi Drandpa"

Late this afternoon Anne's and my son Kyle came by our home with his 2 year old son Ikaika.

As soon as Ikaika saw me from the car, he beamed a big smile and called out, "Hi Drandpa."

Anne was away, but unaware of this, Ikaika went into the family room and the kitchen looking for her and was surprised not to find her.

But Ikaika, who just turned 2 about three weeks ago, with Kyle's assistance urinatped in the toilet, and as a reward, received two "Dong Dongs" (Chinese for candy, in this case two M & Ms) which made him very happy.

He then said "Thank you," very close to the actual words.

I couldn't resist and with Kyle's permission, I gave Ikaika a bonus M & M. Ikaika thanked me again.

Kyle and I spoke briefly and then it was time for them to go. "Bye Drandpa," little Ikaika said and he waved as they drove away.

Ikaika is being raised bilingual, learning English and Chinese.
