In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

God's Messenger

Yesterday on a warm sunny day in Laguna Beach, California I met one of God's messengers.

He is Maurice, from Belgium, who is 50 years old, but could pass for 30.

His most striking feature is his eyes, a bright green - gray as I recall, which in their color and intensity reminded me of the late bright blue - eyed actor Paul Newman.

Another striking feature is Maurice's ever present smile.

Maurice is trim, about 6 feet tall, has brown curly hair, and for the last five years, has lived on the streets.

He is neat and clean and clean shaven and his possessions are a blanket and two small back packs which hold all that he owns.

Maurice has briefly held numerous jobs, but my impression is that money is insignificant to him. He shares what he has and offered to share with me his scone with little chocolate bits.

As a messenger of God, "helping people" is his mission, and he good naturedly does what he can to help them, even if simply with kind words and the sharing of his food.

Maurice's biggest problem is as a homeless man, the police roust him, but he seems remarkably peaceful and at ease with himself in serving God.

Dick
This is how I would envision a second coming of Jesus, not as a superstar such as the Pope, along with his huge entourage and security, but as a humble homeless man or woman serving God.
