This photo, taken by my friend and fellow peace activist, Korean War veteran John Fortier, is of my friend Michael Delees and me, taken with Michael's camera.
This January, 2012 photo was taken at peace vigil number 303, the final vigil after six years of peace vigils virtually every Wedneday night, at the busy corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Palos Verdes Blvd. in Torrance, California, where all but one vigil was held.
As of this writing, the Iraq War has now been fought for nearly 13 years, currently against ISIS, a war which has spread to Syria as well, and the Afghan War, now over 14 years old, and still against the Taliban, also has no end in sight.
Hundreds of thousands of man, women and children have been killed, trillions of dollars has been spent and the situation is an ongoing disaster.
I'm proud we held this peace vigil, but sorry that even with its blogs and communication with U.S. politicians it didn't attract enough of a public following to end these wars. John Fortier continues to hold a nearby peace vigil, a vigil I sometimes join.
