In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

Cameron's Soccer Team Opens Its Season, 9/15/12

Coached by Anne's and my son Clayton, our grandson 7 year old Cameron's soccer team, the Road Warriors (wearing blue & gold uniforms), opened its season playing The Silver Surfers (wearing silver uniforms). On Cameron's team is his best friend Valentin, both of them pint sized guys on a team of pint sized players.

It was an exciting game and evenly matched, as the children ran up and down the field giving it their best effort. While no score was kept, Cameron's team seemed to score more goals, although as I cheer for both teams, it is irrelevant who scores the most goals. What matters is the children have fun playing the game and they did.

On the sidelines, the parents cheered loudly but conducted themselves courteously, setting a fine example for the children. Maria was there socialing with the other families and taking pictures, while 4 year old Carina was busy playing, and was occasionally watching the game.

This has the potential of being a joy filled season and one that Anne and I as grandparents relish. We fondly recall when Clayton was a pint sized player and all the fun we had as we and his big brothers Kyle and Kevin were there to cheer him on.
