In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

"I Love You"

85 year old Uncle Gene was checking into the hospital today in preparation for a heart procedure. Last night he called Anne's and my son Clayton, an emergency room physician to discuss that heart procedure.

Before they finished speaking, our 7 year old grandson Cameron took the telephone and said to Uncle Gene, "I love you." These words deeply touched Uncle Gene, as he told me the story today shortly before leaving for the hospital. And little Cameron could not have expressed them at a better time.
