In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

"This Is The Best Morning Wakeup Ever"

Anne and I had our grandchildren, 7 year old Cameron and 4 year old Carina, stay overnight with us on Friday night (10/5/12). For dinner, we had pizza delivered, which the kids love, and we had their favorite drinks, lemonade for Cameron and chocolate milk for Carina.

As we were finishing dinner, Cameron asked if we could go to the toy store and I told him we could after I finished dinner. To encourage me to finish dinner quickly as he had done, Cameron stood alongside me gently touching me as I ate.

With dinner completed, we went to the toy section of Target, where Cameron chose a Lego action figure and Carina chose a doll. At the checkout counter, Cameron with permission added a Hershey Bar for dessert and Carina added a flavored, multi-colored sugared sweet, both children saying these treats are their favorites.

When we arrived home, the kids ate their desserts, had their baths and we watched "The Muppet Movie" until it was bedtime, when we tucked them in and Anne read them a story. After a few laughs, they were soon sound asleep.

Early the next morning, they burst into our bedroom, a bundle of laughter and joy, as they jumped onto our bed to get us up, as they giggled and played with us before proclaiming it was time for breakfast. And as we got up to go into the kitchen, Cameron enthusiastically said, "This is the best morning wakeup ever," as Anne led them into the kitchen for a breakfast of hard boiled eggs and pizza, washed down with chocolate milk.

We finished watching "The Muppet Movie" and part of the movie, "Megamind," as our son Clayton arrived to rush them off to Cameron's soccer game. Having them with us was such a joy and it made life that much more special.
