In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

Brody's Words Touched My Heart

Anne's and my 8 year old grandson Brody is in a 3rd grade class in which each student is assigned to tell the class which gift they have received is the most meaningful to them and why.

Brody's presentation is this Thursday, 1/31/14 and the following is what he wrote:

"The gift that means the most to me is a gold coin. It's a little smaller than a dime, and it has an eagle on it. It is very heavy for its small size. It cost a lot of money, so I have to be careful not to lose it. My dad holds onto it for me, and he lets me hold it whenever I ask. The reason my gold coin is so special to me is that it was a gift from my grandpa, and I love him very much."

As you can imagine, these words touched my heart.
