In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

"No Bro-Bro!!"

Last Sunday evening May 11th, our son Kyle and his wife Diane hosted. a grand Mother's Day celebration at their beautiful home.

Diane prepared beef and chicken platters, salads and an array of other food, a great deal of work for her but it was something she had done from her heart and it was appreciated by all.

Others brought additional goodies such as Anne's and my son Clayton baking brownies and cookies to add to all the tempting desserts Diane provided. And at my request, Anne made almond milk chocolate pudding.

We all had such a good time yet there was also an interesting incident:

Kyle's and Diane's older son Keoni is 13 and his little brother Ikaika is just 17 months old and the two boys are very close.

But Ikaika got mad at Keoni and suddenly bit him. Immediately Kyle picked up Ikaika and whisked him into the back yard for a stern discussion.

Ikaika calls Keoni "bro-bro" (brother) and Kyle told him "no no" as he touched his teeth. Ikaika replied "bro-bro" and started to cry. Kyle touched his teeth and said sharply, "no bro-bro," as Ikaika got the message that biting Keoni is unacceptable.

I believe this was a growth moment for Ikaika, as he learned not to hurt the ones he loves (and hopefully not to hurt others either).

What a wonderful Mother's Day this was, filled with happiness and good cheer and a valuable lesson for a tiny guy.
