In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

Brody's 9th Birthday Party, 8/2/14

Although Brody actually turned 9 years of age today (8/3), his birthday party was held yesterday, Saturday and what a joy it was.

He and his 6 year old brother Gannon had about a dozen children arrive to celebrate his birthday. Our son Kevin, Brody's and Gannon's dad, had assembled an above ground swimming pool and the kids and numerous colorful flotation devices were all packed in together.

What most stood out for me was the children's laughter as they splashed in the pool and as they ran around the yard squirting each other with squirt guns.

But also Gannon had lost his first baby tooth. The day before the party he was eating a corn dog and he accidentally bit down on the stick. Now he has a tiny gap among his lower front teeth.

Brody's and Gannon's other grandfather, Ben Haney was the life of the party as he greeted people and played with kids, while also running around taking photos of everyone.

There was plenty of pizza, chips, hot salsa (the salsa made by the boy's mother Melody) and a vanilla birthday cake with a strawberry filling.

Brody was one very happy guy.
