In the silence, in the solitude, in the journey within ourselves is our spiritual being strivening to awaken us and place us on the path to inner-peace.
So much of what our minds told us was real was but an illusion. For example, making our marks on a world in which nothing is permanent and everyone passes through quickly is an illusion.
Possessions beyond our basic needs are an illusion. Often a sick illusion. In our illusion we actually celebrate the concept of one person having far more than he or she can possibly use while so many other people have so little.
So much of recorded history is an illusion created in an attempt to add substance where it never really existed. The real purpose of history is to convey lessons and encourage us to put them into practice.
The rest is nonsense.
History teaches us war is travesty, war is hell on earth. And yet wars continue as if one more war with all of its suffering could bring peace. History tells us that only love and forgiveness can bring peace.
But in our unawakened state, we prefer the illusion that war brings peace.
Much of humanity worships celebrity and fame, caught up in the illusion that those who attain celebrity and fame are better than they are, and worthy of worship for being in the spotlight.
But reality is that every spotlight dims and fades away to nothingness. The only thing that survives are ideas and good works that touch the hearts of mankind. That is why the horrors of war are perpetuated as heroism rather than the grisly essence reality tells us they are.
In our brief journey here, we must awaken, casting aside the illusions.
Our souls are seeking to grow, a need so great that they call upon us to waken, to comprehend reality and to become a blessing to every other soul making this journey.
Only in awakening can we ever find inner-peace as we free ourselves from illusion and embrace the magnificence of life.
Love, faith, forgiveness, brotherhood, compassion and wisdom were born within us.
In awakening we bring those holiest of attributes forth and find the happiness and fulfillment we have always been seeking.

In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.
