Anne's and my 22 month old grandson Ikaika is a little guy with tremendous energy. Occasionally it gets him into trouble.
When that happens, our son Kyle shared the following story with us:
Kyle or his wife Diane will walk little Ikaika into the other room for a "Timeout," while explaining to him what he did wrong.
He then sits down on his tiny chair and they set a timer and place it next to him, often to ring after just 60 seconds.
But if it is Kyle who put him in "Timeout," as Kyle walks away, Ikaika will softly and slowly call out, "Kyle ... Kyle."
Of course this touches one's heart and makes it difficult to keep this pint sized guy in "Timeout," for however brief a time.

Ikaika will be 23 months old in four days, 11/18/14
In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.
