In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

Cameron, Age 9 And Carina, Age 6 Come To Visit

Two of Anne's and my grandchildren, Cameron and Carina met us at Ruby's Diner last Sunday (11/9/14) for lunch.

It was a joy for us and afterward, we took them to a toy store a short walk from Ruby's so each child could pick a special gift. With our permission, they each picked two, as none was very expensive.

Taking them to a toy store is something we began when they were toddlers and brings them and us great joy.

As time passes so quickly, we know that too soon the day will come when they outgrow the toy store but that is a concern for the future day when that happens.

For now we will enjoy every minute of it.

Afterwards, we brought them to our home to play with their new toys and so we could do what grandparents are supposed to do, spoil them rotten.

We had chocolate almond milk for Carina (she chooses almond milk because she knows I drink it) and lemonade for Cameron.

We watched an episode of "The Simpsons" (Carina's choice) and were watching the movie, "Muppet Treasure Island" (Cameron's choice) when their mother Maria came to pick them up.

This is such a wonderful time to be a grandparent, when they are little and cute and want to be with us.

Later, as teenagers, we will become passé and give way to their teenage friends and other activities. But for now, we are fun to be with and we share in the joy of their company.
