On Sunday, Anne and I attended the baseball game of Brody, age 7 and Gannon, age 4. It was such a joy being out there with our son Kevin (unfortunately because of a backache, his wife Melody couldn't attend) and all the other adults as we cheered for both teams in a game in which no-one kept score.
Brody is a focused player and his baseball skills have increased considerably in the past year. Before this season, Gannon was too little to be on the team and he would play in the stands with other small children.
In Sunday's game Brody got some big hits and played well in the field. Gannon meanwhile was talking to and playing with his teammates and coaches until it was his turn to bat. Once at bat, Gannon swung mightily at every pitch as if he was a miniature Babe Ruth. But when he finally hit the ball, it was a slow roller in the infield.
Kevin was behind the plate and while Gannon was running to 1st base, he kept speaking to Kevin, By the time got to 1st base, the other team had gotten him out but he never noticed and no child is ever called out. Gannon eventually came around to score, I think on a hit by Brody.
In the end, everyone had lots of laughs and a good time, especially the children playing in the game.

In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.
