In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

"There Are Now 4!" (Ikaika Joins Kyle, Diane And Keoni)

The following is Kyle's latest update in a story that captures my heart. His reference to his mother having knitted the hat for Clayton that Ikaika is wearing was knit when in 1974 when Clayton was born. Anne saved that cap all these years since. If you would like to see photos, please visit Kyle's Facebook Page at http://www.facebook.com/reqs.php?type=1#!/kyle.kazan?fref=ts

Dear Family,

We just picked up Ikaika from the maternity hospital and brought him to our apartment.  Busy day with my about to leave to "complete the transaction."  And to buy a local cheap phone (mine cost $6 per minute), more fruits and vegetables.  The lawyer will be coming over later today as will the doctor so a busy day ahead.  I should have a better estimate for our return after today....

Last night we blew a bundle at the Ukrainian version of Babies r us and I realized just how valuable those baby showers were for Keoni.  We need to get an exit date before we accumulate too much stuff.

The only difficulty is that I now am dealing with what feels like the flu.  Unfortunately, it is really cold here albeit our apartment does heat up just fine.  California Dreamin is on a loop in my head as we wander around although that is probably the flu talking as I'm usually game for some adventure.

It should be noted that Ikaika is wearing the yellow hat (and sweater)that my mom knitted for Clayton.

I hope you all enjoy a wonderful Christmas Eve and know that in our hearts we are with you!

With love,

Proud Papa for a second time
