In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

"They're Here," 7 Year Old Cameron Joyfully Called Out

On Monday night (12/3/12) Anne and I went to our son Clayton's and daughter-in-law Maria's home to take our 7 year old grandson Cameron and our 4 year old granddaughter Carina to dinner. When we knocked on the front door, we heard Cameron joyfully call out, with excitement ringing in his voice, "They're here," and we heard Carina squeal with joy.

We then heard their little feet race down the hall to the front door, which burst open as they greeted us with heartfelt smiles and laughter and big hugs and kisses. They expressed so much happiness to see us, that it lifted our hearts.

We took Cameron and Carina to Ruby's Diner, where Cameron ate two corn dogs and Carina ate one, as each child washed down their dogs and fries with vanilla shakes and some lemonade. Dessert was vanilla ice cream.

As Carina ate her ice cream it dripped all over her so fast, it was all I could do to keep wiping off her pint sized blouse and jacket so she would stay nice and neat.

Cameron and Carina behaved so well, that after dinner we walked to a toy store and each child chose a special toy. We then took them home and we got another round of big hugs and kisses as we greeted Clayton and Maria and said goodnight to the kids.

Yes, the kids were a mile high with joy and energy, enough energy to likely keep them running around long after their bedtime. But as grandparents, we did our job well, spoiling them rotten and then giving them back to their parents. What a joyous evening it was.
