In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

4 Month Old Ikaika's Baptism, 5/3/13

It was a beautiful sunny evening and about 60 people attended the Baptism at the Mary Star Catholic Church in San Pedro. Among them were Uncle Gene, 86 and Aunt El, 88 who were driven out from the San Fernando Valley by their son Ken and his wife Cathy.

During the service, which was a long one, Uncle Gene and I sat together, and after a time my 8 year old grandson Cameron came to join us. He was bored and wondered how much longer the service would last. Cameron whispered to me, "I wish I had a good book and a cup of hot chocolate," which made me laugh.

Baby Ikaika was adorable and seemed to relish the attention he received and was particularly happy each time he saw his big brother, 12 year old Keoni.

After the service about 50 of us went to a lovely San Pedro landmark restaurant, J Tranni's and we had a wonderful time together. Kyle was the key. Not only did he and Diane pay for the meal but he worked all of the tables to speak with the attendees to ensure they were having a good time and to make each person feel important.

Kyle also ordered not only a variety of food but special meals for some of the attendees, including a vegetarian higher grade pasta for me, served with vegan tomato sauce as I am a vegetarian. To organize a big festivity such as this one was not easy and I commend Kyle and Diane for a job very well done.

The attendees were family and friends and they included one of Kyle's investors, Barry Mycorn and his wife Gee Gee, who through his involvement and kindness is becoming an extended member of our family. I enjoy their company and I enjoyed the company of so many others as well.

Baptisms are of no consequence to me but getting together with family and friends is, as well as making new friends whenever the opportunity presents itself. I appreciated Kyle making an extra effort to provide special meals for me and for others, among all the other responsibilities he has.
