In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

A Visit From My Friend Bob Frandzel A Dream From 6/30/12

My friend Bob Frandzel was an outstanding attorney and in his latter years, a humanitarian who despite a busy schedule, found the time to help others. He would mediate disputes or make a phone call or write a letter that would uplift some one's life or career and for the troubled, he found the time to be a good listener and a counselor.

When he died in his early 50's in 1996, a non smoker who died of lung cancer, a thousand or more people came to his funeral service, despite little time for his executive assistant to notify people, a stunning number for a non-celebrity.

Over the years since, I have often thought of my friend Bob and I recall the time in 1987, despite his busy schedule, he drove out from Beverly Hills to Palos Verdes to see Anne's and my new home. This is a round trip drive of about 2.5 hours.

Last night's dream was vivid, in which I could readily feel Bob's presence and his outgoing personality. This time he had come out to see Anne's and my new Palos Verdes home, the one we moved into a year and a half ago, but the home was new to him. But first we stopped nearby because others wanted to speak with him about their problems. As word spread that he was there, more and more people arrived to speak with him.

Finally, I persuaded him to get in the car and we drove off, headed to Anne's and my home. What stands out now as this piece is being written is the pleasure of his company and the smile it brings to my heart as I think of this remarkable man.
