In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

Postal Workers Return $2,000 Check

In a carefully sealed envelope, about two weeks ago I mailed a $2,000 check made out to cash and wrapped it in white paper so it wasn't visible from outside the envelope. But somehow that envelope was destroyed and the check left in plain site of postal workers.

But last night, an envelope arrived in the mail from the "Loose Articles Unit" of the postal service apologizing for the destruction and enclosing our check. In response, I sent them the following hand written note:

"Dear Postal Workers of the Loose Articles Unit,

"Thank you for returning our $2,000 check to us after it was found loose in the mail. Your thoughtful action speaks volumes about your integrity.

"If ever any of you question your own integrity, just re-read this brief letter and it will reassure you of who you really are and what you really stand for.

Dick Kazan"

I was thankful to write such a letter and hopeful it will receive wide distribution among their postal unit for the closest I could come to shaking their hands in gratitude.
