In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

"I Am In Kindergarten"

"I am in kindergarten," said 4 year old Gannon proudly, with a big smile as he looked up at Anne and me yesterday, after he and Brody, age 7 finished their final baseball game of the season. We have no idea why Gannon said this to us, but we enjoyed it immensely.

In yesterday's game, Brody was a real standout, hitting the ball hard at the plate and when out in the field, either catching the ball or nearly catching the ball each time it was thrown to him. And he threw it very well back to the pitcher at each opportunity.

The game was between the two West Torrance teams, Brody and Gannon's team in white with red lettering and the other team in red with white lettering. The teams were comparable in skill and there were lots of runs scored and lots of laughs and cheers from the crowd.

Brody and Gannon's team also consisted of Christian, Jackson, Nathan, Sathvik, Sophie and Tyler all of whom became better ball players throughout the season and I believe all of whom had a wonderful time.

The head coach was Tyler's dad Ron, and the other coaches were Christian's dad Roman, Nathan's dad Rich and our son Kevin. Melody was the team mother and she was a loving and cheerful presence all season.

After the game ended, many of the kids from both teams lingered and played with one another. Then when it was time, Brody and Gannon's team and parents headed out to Kevin and Melody's home to celebrate the baseball season that was.

Anne gave Kevin 15 Sees candy 4 or 5 inch tall thick chocolate turkeys to hand out at the party, as our little contribution to their celebration of a wonderful and memorable time.
