In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

1/10/13 Kyle, Diane, Keoni And Ikaika Are Home

With joy, Anne met their flight at LAX and I went to Langer's Deli west of downtown Los Angeles to pick up Kyle and 12 year old Keoni's favorite deli food (Jewish corned beef in particular).

We had cleared out our schedules and were so glad to have them home, and without overstaying our welcome, we heard their stories and spent time with them. Anne held baby Ikaika, fed him his bottle and changed him.

Their Ukraine journey was three weeks long and despite Kyle's funny emails, which included pictures, two Skype phone calls and some more conventional phone calls, nothing can take the place of being with them.
