Subject: RE: There is no place like home, there is no place like home!
Dear Family,
We arrived home a week ago last Thursday. My Mom picked us up at LAX and my
Dad surprised us by going to Langer's for deli food so that Keoni could have
his Christmas morning food. A welcome surprise and that Saturday morning,
Keoni, Diane and I enjoyed the fine breakfast and gathered around our very
dehydrated tree and celebrated tardy Christmas by opening our gifts. It was
GREAT!
It is wonderful being home and on Friday Ikaika enjoyed his 1st month
birthday. He also was circumcised at Cedars-Sinai so the day wasn't without
some hurdles for the little guy.
According to his pediatrician, he is a healthy boy who is eating twice as
much (4 ounces instead of 2) as required every 3 hours. Dr. Flores comment
was "he eats like a big Russian baby."
Diane, Keoni and I are adjusting to life with a newborn and are most
thankful that he has not gotten sick even though it is winter (flu season)
and we transported him halfway around the world.
Attached is a photo of Ikaika on a blanket which was a gift from the Beach
Front team. The other photo was taken by Diane moments before the beard
came off as my goal of picking up our son and bringing him home was complete
(I was still a tad tired at the time).
Diane is ready for one more little one and given that she is the one who is
sacrificing the most (taking 3 months off of work and shouldering almost all
of the late night feedings and changings), I am on board. Keoni has been
the consummate big brother although his fingers are still clean as he has
yet to handle dirty pampers. I on the other hand am back in baby mode and
have regained form and am getting my time down. As Mr. Miagi said, "poop
on, poop off."
We are keeping him away from children and any adults struggling with a cold
or the flu. You are welcome to give us a holler if you want to visit or we
will see you at functions in a couple of months.
Thank you for your support while we were on our Ukrainian adventure. Keoni
has indicated a desire to join us if/when we go back to pick up our last
child so I think he enjoyed the experience. Right now it is safe to say
that we are savoring our good fortune in being a family of 4.
Best,
Proud Papa of 2 fine little men
