It is amazing the marvelous effect one can have in greeting people warmly. Two days ago I spoke with a line of women at the post office, including offering to hold the door for two of the women who were together.
One of those women told the other that men don't do that anymore for women and it was apparent she missed that gentlemanly practice.
Speaking to these women and the female postal clerk behind the counter was a wonderful way to break the ice among strangers. When I left everyone said goodbye. And someone, perhaps one of the women I offered to hold the door for called out in a soft voice, "God bless you."
Yesterday I did the same thing with men and women in the supermarket, even gently touching some of them on the arm where I thought it was appropriate.
Once again, people who were bored and apathetic before our brief encounter were smiling and pleasant, as if something special had happened to make their day more enjoyable. It was as if they had been awakened.
Warmly greeting people is something I do because I sincerely care for them and it is a wonderful feeling to see so many of them respond so well.

In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.
