Last night (5/24/13) Anne and I babysat two of our grandchildren, Cameron, 8 and his little sister Carina, 5. We did many of the usual things as I played with them in the back yard, both children playing on the swing set, Carina sliding down a slide and Cameron kicking soccer sized balls while Carina picked flowers for Anne.
Later, we filled them with pizza and all the chocolate milk they wanted, along with Hershey Bars for dessert. We then watched the movies they chose. While watching those movies, Cameron and Carina piled on top of me on the couch.
But what most stands out in my mind is that at one point, Cameron got up and went over to Anne who was watching the movies from her oversized cushioned chair. He scrambled up and cuddled with her, on her right as together they watched part of a movie.
After Cameron climbed down and rejoined me, Carina joined Anne, scrambling up on her chair to cuddle with her, much as Cameron had done. After awhile she rejoined Cameron and me.
The closeness and spontaneous loving response from our grandchildren made the evening very special for us.

In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.
