In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

Father's Day, 6/16/13

At our home on a beautiful sunny evening, Anne and I hosted Father's Day, a gathering of our sons Kyle and Kevin and their families (our other son Clayton and his family were in Maui) and Anne's mother Mary. Two events most stood out for me:

1) How well the children played together as 13 year old Keoni played with 7 year old Brody and 5 year old Gannon. The little boys from the time they arrived were excited to play with Keoni and when he arrived, they played on the swing set together and played soccer together as well. A day later as I write this, I can still hear the laughter and the joy.

2) Keoni by hand made me a Father's Day card. He sketched funny characters and wrote a nice message in a card I am keeping.

I'm striving to build a closer relationship with Keoni and his card made me feel very good.
