This morning from about 8 am to noon, Anne and I had 8 year old Cameron and 5 year old Carina, who returned late last night from Maui with their parents.
Of course we spoiled them rotten with all the donuts they could eat and all the chocolate milk they could drink, with chocolate Hershey Bars as dessert. Cameron encouraged me to be more flexible in my eating habits, as per usual, I didn't eat any of those things. In response I ate two tiny Hershey's pieces.
At about 10:15 am, Anne left to attend a funeral for a friend of hers, and I had the kids all to myself, a real pleasure.
What most stood out for me during this visit is when Carina arrived, tightly against her chest she was hugging a one foot tall light pink unicorn stuffed doll with a dark pink two inch dark pink horn on its head and a multi-color lei around its neck. She was thrilled to have gotten it in Maui and the two were largely inseparable.
That is until it came time to leave and Carina forgot it. We are scheduled to see the kids this Wednesday and we wii make it a point to return her treasured unicorn.

In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.
