Yesterday our grandson Brody celebrated his 8th birthday with a wonderful fun-filled backyard party hosted by his parents Kevin and Melody and his other grandfather Ben, "Papa."
The children ran around with Nurf guns shooting ultra-soft foam cylindrical bullets at each other, their laughter and joy echoing far and wide for all to hear.
For extra safety, each child wore goggles.
Among the games they also played was pin the tail on the donkey. As I didn't witness this game Anne shared this story with me: Brody's little 5 year old brother Gannon was at the front of the line to begin the game.
Kevin placed a blindfold across Gannon's eyes and with a big grin, Gannon took the tail and immediately placed it in the appropriate place on the donkey.
Kevin was startled and said to Gannon, "Could you see?" Gannon giggled and said, "Yes," as everyone laughed.
Everybody had a great time at Brody's party and I suspect Nurf bullets will turn up around the yard for weeks to come.
It is hard to believe little Brody is already 8 years old. But that is the nature of life, as time passes quickly and together we have the opportunity to share such joyous moments.

In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.
