On Sunday, 8/4/13 Uncle Gene and Aunt El hosted a wonderful family party which attracted almost everyone with the exception of Kyle and his family who were in Hawaii.
As he always does, Uncle Gene packed the party with outstanding food a part of which he as a gourmet chef personally prepared, but added deli from Brent's, one of L.A.'s top delis and baked breads from another of L.A.'s finest bakeries.
It was a warm bright and sunny day and many of the guests used his swimming pool which he had heated for the occasion.
While in the pool Anne's and my grandchildren 8 year old Brody and his little brother 5 year Gannon were having a wonderful time. But as Uncle Gene was watching, Brody was floating on his back and Gannon with a big grin had a mischievous look.
"I saw the look on his (Gannon's) face," Uncle Gene later said with a laugh in his voice.
Sensing Brody was about to be dunked, Uncle Gene called out, "Don't do it Gannon!" But Gannon was already quietly chuckling to himself as he got to Brody. Gannon's hands came out of the water as he raised them above Brody while Uncle Gene screamed, "No Gannon."
A heartbeat later Brody was dunked and Gannon laughed aloud with joy. "Brody didn't get flustered and took it well," said Uncle Gene and he quickly went on swimming.
Seeing Brody's reaction, and Gannon's happiness, Uncle Gene laughed as well and relished sharing this story with me.
The Uncle Gene, Aunt El party was such a success that everyone stayed late and appeared to have a great time. I very much enjoy their company and that of their guests, including a business associate and her son, and I'm thankful they continue to host such parties.

In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.
