In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

Our Close Friend Fay Ward, Age 99

Yesterday (9/29/13) Anne hosted a baby shower in our home for her best friend Frances Sharar's daughter in law Cindy and by all accounts the 21 guests had a wonderful time.

Meanwhile I visited our close friend Fay Ward who at age 99 until recently lived on her own in her own home. But recently she has had some serious health issues and now has a caregiver Gloria who lives with her.

Each Saturday night Anne and I host a dinner at Chicago for Ribs (they serve me vegetarian cuisine) and Fay and in years past her late husband Ed joined us. But for the last few weeks Fay has been unable to attend.

So I visit her. On one occasion I brought her her usual order from Chicago for Ribs and plenty of additional food to include Gloria. On another occasion I brought her the donuts she was craving and on another occasion the matzah ball soup she wanted, in both cases with enough for Gloria.

Each time it is a joy to see Fay and Gloria, and I call regularly to check in on Fay and lift her spirits.

Having Ed and Fay as our friends has been a godsend to us and we want to enjoy her company and bring happiness into her life for as long as we have her.

Dick
