Today, Saturday I picked up my 8 year old grandson Cameron at his home and brought him to his soccer game. Ordinarily Anne's and my son Clayton, Cameron's dad and also his soccer coach would do that but he was in a meeting in Seattle.
Another team father coached today and Cameron wanted me on the sidelines to give him support, and at the end of each quarter, he joined me.
The other team was one player short and Cameron's Crimson Tide had one extra player so a Crimson Tide player each quarter played for the other team. In the 4th quarter that player was Cameron and he did his best, but told me after the game ended he felt guilty trying to help the other team score.
It was an even match throughout and the final score was 3 to 3.
Afterward, Cameron and I went to the toy store where he chose a Lego monster for himself and a cute bunny doll for Carina. I then brought him home where he happily played with his Lego men and monsters and his little sister, 5 year old Carina greeted me warmly and welcomed her new bunny doll.
Their other grandmother Mary was there to care for them, as their mother Maria was at a wedding on Santa Catalina Island, and as always it was a pleasure to see Mary and of course a pleasure to see Maria, whom I say before she left for the wedding.
Mary happily told me that one of her two sons Joseph was getting married on April 5th, 2014 at the church on the University of San Francisco campus, the campus where he got his Master's Degree.
During my time with Cameron, he spoke of "wanting to go to sleep" in his science class because he already knows most of what they are trying to teach him. But he finds social studies interesting and is avidly learning from that area of study.
He also enjoys learning about the Greek gods and asked me questions about how people could believe in mythology and believe in multiple gods. I told him that the Hindus believe in multiple gods today and that all of religion is a series of stories and that people can believe whatever they like, that it's called faith. As we spoke, he easily grasped the concepts.
In all it was a wonderful time seeing everyone and I view this time as precious knowing how quickly Cameron and Carina are growing up. They are so cute and Anne and I play an important role in their lives.

In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.
