In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

Brody And The Bugatti, 11/9/13

On Saturday (11/9/13) I arrived to see my grandson Gannon, 5 years old, and his teammates on The Eye of The Tiger play the Silver Ninjas. This is peewee soccer played on a field only about 50 feet long, with no goalie, and no score kept.

The kids run in every which direction kicking the soccer ball and everyone has a good time, including the families that cheer them on. When I arrived it was half-time and Gannon raced over and gave me a big hug.

Soon into the second half, I took Gannon's big brother Brody, 8 years old, on a walk through the surrounding neighborhood, as he enthusiastically talked about the cars and houses we saw.

His favorite was a nearly new white retro Chrysler muscle car, a modern day imitation of their 1970's muscle cars.

As we talked I asked Brody about his desire to race a Bugatti when he grows up. With a smile and a humble tone of voice he said he wanted to race a red one because red is his favorite color and also his dad's favorite color. But if not red, he wanted to race a gray Bugatti.

Our time to walk and talk ended too soon for Brody had plenty to say, but Gannon's game was ending and we needed to rejoin everyone. But what a pleasure it was to walk with Brody on this warm sunny day listening to his ideas and feeling his joy as he expressed those ideas.
