In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

Seeing Someplace Else

Anne's and my sons Kyle and Clayton would like us to travel much more than we do.

They would like us to tour Italy, among other places, and we appreciate their good wishes for us.

When all three of our sons, including Kevin were young, I would take two weeks off each year and we would travel to some marvelous places, from Israel, to France, to Scandanavia, to England, Japan, Greece, etc. and to Hawaii regularly.

And for business, I traveled as well.

Anne and I have also visited Australia and New Zealand, Shanghsi, Hong Kong and Singapore, in addition to our annual visits to Vancouver and to Pebble Beah.

But for now Anne is not expressing an interest in extended travel and my journey is an inward one, as I seek higher awareness.

We live in the Los Angeles area, a major tourist destination as people from around the world are fascinated by this place, particularly Hollywood, Beverly Hills and other celebrity driven haunts.

My external journey in this day will keep me in the general area near our home and a little while ago, I slowly walked our beautiful backyard, looking at all the flowers in bloom.

I strive each time to see these flowers in reds, pinks, yellows and whites anew and to see as well the towering green pine trees, the blue skies and feel the warmth of the sunshine.

Birds are chirping, butterflies are fluttering and the ocean breeze blows ever so softly and it is all a marvelous show.

In this little piece of nature's heaven, any stress I might have been feeling flutters away with the butterflies as surely a smile graces my face.

No, this isn't someplace else, it is here. A tiny bastion of beauty requiring no long flights, no luggage to pack and unpack, no car rentals, no hotels, no traveler's checks, no time zone changes and no busy schedules in order to enjoy.

It is simply here and now.
