In considering the purchase of an Irvine rental home, two days ago I pressed our agent Harry Line, a very capable man, to move faster and to provide much more evaluative information, as if time is of the essence. I overlooked not having asked Harry for all that information in the first place.
I had also forgotten that until Harry assembled the short sale listings (homes listed for sale for less than their mortgage amounts), I hadn't even designated a specific area of interest other than Irvine, Laguna Niguel and adjacent areas, a huge swath of homes. The intent was for Anne and me to make more monthly income by buying a rental home and equally important, to be a godsend to a seller needing to sell in a market in which prices are continuing to fall. We would not do a hard nosed deal taking the last dollar off the table because we want to be reasonable and to treat the seller with respect and compassion.
Instead, I jumped all over Harry, as if we were going to miss out on making a better deal while the market is overrun with homes for sale. And even if the market wasn't overrun, so what. That is not the basis for us to do business. I will apologize to Harry and extend to him the respect and appreciation he deserves. I will also focus on what has come to me in prayer, that "I don't possess anything beyond myself." At death, all assets are left behind and beyond this life in this dimension, none of us actually own anything except ourselves, our spiritual beings. From this valuable real estate lesson, I will be unemotional and wiser going forth, keeping everything in proper perspective.
In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.
