In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

Halloween, 2012

Last night Anne and I had enough candy to feed a small army, but not one trick or treater came to our well lit, beautifully decorated door. We live in an older area without sidewalks or street lighting and I'm sure that was a factor.

But the biggest factor was from 3 pm to 6 pm at a local shopping center, children en masse, many with a parent or guardian, trick or treated through the shops and participated in a Halloween program. They were Halloweened out by nightfall.

While we were sorry to attract no trick or treaters, the shopping center approach is a much safer and wiser way of trick or treating and we support it.
