Today I witnessed a shocking sight. At a home construction site, the Indian (India) contractor yelled at his Hispanic construction crew with complaint after complaint as he walked the site. He showed a total lack of sensitivity and I believe he wasn't fully aware of it because it appeared that this is how he normally functions. He treated these men as "Untouchables."
Even to my friend who so praised him, he was obnoxious. This man was simply impolite to me. And until my friend made him aware that I am a real estate investor, he had no interest in me.
As a man of many years of business experience, I know that abusing workers is no way to motivate them to perform. A little praise on his part would have gone a long way. But he has an immigrant crew who need the work and so they tolerate him.
I felt bad for what I saw, and lagged behind and in my extremely limited Spanish, offered some kind words and they were very well received, like thirsty men in a desert who had just discovered water.
I reminded myself that God is a part of this man as He is a part of me and that there is plenty of room for improvement in both of us.

In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.
