In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

"He Looks Robust If Robust Means Fat"

Today my sisters Lisa and Lorrie, joined me in sharing a wonderful lunch with Aunt Eleanor at Cafe Cordiale in the San Fernando Valley. Before we left for the restaurant, Lorrie and I stopped in to see Uncle Gene, who was about to leave for a doctor visit at a Kaiser Medical Center to see how well he is healing from a recent heart valve surgery.

From all appearances he is healing well as he is energetic and actively running his business. I told Lorrie I think of Uncle Gene as robust. When we walked in to see him, Lorrie told Aunt El that Uncle Gene looks robust.

To which Aunt El replied with a big smile and a chuckle in her voice, "He looks robust if robust means fat," as we all broke into laughter.

11/29/12 update: Uncle Gene's heart specialist told him he was doing the best of any of his patients for whom he has conducted this valve surgery. And Uncle Gene's echo-cardiogram measuring the heart's activity was excellent as well.
