In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

Today Kyle, Diane And Keoni Left For The Ukraine To Pickup Ikaika And Bring Him Home

Today Anne and I drove our son Kyle, our daughter in law Diane and our 12 year old grandson Keoni to the airport to begin a multi-stop series of flights and a train ride to go to Kharkiv in the Ukraine to meet their baby son. In the case of Keoni, it is to meet his baby brother, one in which Keoni will have tremendous influence on.

Baby Ikaika is the product of a Ukrainian based service that worked with Kyle and Diane to select an appropriate egg donor and a second lady to serve as a surrogate, who carried him for nine months in her womb. Kyle was the sperm donor.

After baby Ikaika has his paperwork processed by Ukrainian authorities and is made a U.S. citizen by the U.S. government, and as soon as he is able to safely handle the train ride and the long flights from Kharkiv to Los Angeles, he will be on his way home with his new family, a family who will love and nurture him.

As grandparents, Anne and I are looking forward to meeting our new grandson and to having him become an integral part of our lives. For us, as it is for other members of our family, this is a life changing event and one we plan to treasure.
