In this Journal, I will attempt to strip away my protective veneer to view and communicate honestly what the truth is as I perceive it. My intent is to grow, for without an honest evaluation of the truth, how else can one fully absorb life's more difficult lessons and benefit by them. If I do this in secret, then I am still hiding behind a protective veneer, so it is being published online. If you find this Journal, you are welcome to read it and hopefully grow from it as well.

Brody And The Silver Bullets, 9/14/13

Yesterday I had the joy of watching Anne's and my 8 year old grandson Brody play for the Silver Bullets (silver jerseys) in his first organized soccer game.

No score was kept and the atmosphere was so jovial, that at halftime, Brody at first went to the sidelines with his opponents (green jerseys) until his coach called him back. I suspect he did that because he has friends on both teams.

At 8 years of age Brody is getting a late start in organized soccer compared with many children but it doesn't matter as he seemed to be having a good time playing.

At one point his coach took him out of the game to rest for part of a quarter but he put himself back in. But he had to come out because his team had too many players on the field. However Brody was soon back in the game running up and down the field.

His mother Melody was there and cheering for both teams as did I. She's learning many of the names of Brody's teammates and cordially cheers for them by name, which makes the game a little more special for everyone.

Whether Brody stays with soccer or not after this season, playing on this team is a good experience for him.
